This post will share things to do in winter and things to do in summer – plus there are things that overlap and can be done any time of year. His van, however, was reported to have been found at Fallen Leaf Lake in 2004. The body may have been under for approximately 14 years. After many weeks, we were to learn it was the body of Michael Whalen from Florida, estimated around 60 years old at the time of drowning. The body was taken for intense investigation. This opened an entirely new investigation, as it was not known that there was another body in this Lake. His wallet was still in his pocket and it was likely this had nothing to do with our intended case. ![]() We brought the remains up the following day with our ROV and the help of the El Dorado Sheriff’s County Search and Rescue Fallen Leaf Fire Department and the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Department. We could tell this body had also been underwater for several years in over 200′. However, when circling the body with our ROV, we found he had anchor securely tied to him. It did not match the situation of David Ward. After passing over it with sonar we sent down the Outland Technology ROV, outfitted with the Tritech Gemini 720ik sonar and confirmed it to be a body. Witnesses saw him trying to make the swim back, but the rough water did not allow it.įrom previously recorded data from our previous search here, I had an interesting image I wanted to check. Ward’s friend was picked up by another boater, but Ward had already gone under. He and a friend were in a canoe and the weather caused the canoe to overturn. David Ward was 21 at the time of his drowning in 1996. We then returned to Fallen Leaf Lake on our mission to locate Cynthia Ellis’s son, David Ward, on October 26, 2017. Our third trip this year was with the success of bringing Randy Box of Fresno CA. She had been missing for 16 years! This search was before our Randy Box recovery from our blog, but we were unable to release these details until now. The body was later to be confirmed that of Cynthia Ellis, the mother previously noted in this story, from 2001. We were cut short because of the Labor Day holiday weekend and headed back to WI. After the recovery, we continued our search that day, on a quest to locate her son. John and Daniella, accompanied us, as volunteers from Search and Rescue, for El Dorado County. The next day, Wednesday, we recovered the rest of her remains for the Sheriff’s Department. At the request of the Sheriff’s Department, we recovered a portion the remains for possible proper identification. We confirmed what appeared to be a female body. We located a good target with our sonar and then proceeded to use our ROV. Officer Frisby and another Detective, Jake, accompanied us. The following day we had access to the Police Report information and began to run Klein 3900 sonar. ![]() We did some ROV work checking the bottom and the depth, as there are no underwater depth/topo maps for that particular lake. ![]() Our first day, the search started in the late afternoon. The lake and its surrounding area was beautiful with steep mountain sides, large cedars and beautiful shoreline. The access road was about 4 miles long, a one lane narrow road. Beth and I, and the 2 officers, wasted no time and went there directly- only minutes away. The case was regarding a drowning victim as a result of a canoe accident from 1996 AND a possible suicide in the same lake by this victim’s mother, in 2001. Frisby and Almos had a cold case, only a mile away, on Fallen Leaf Lake. At that point, we had a couple of days before another search. Almos, both of El Dorado County Sheriff’s Department. On Monday, August 28, 2017, after our Dan Pham recovery in Lake Tahoe, we had lunch and discussion with Detective D. ![]() Exclusion criteria included presence of pre-existing major viral resistance mutations to NRTIs, non-NRTIs, or PIs 18 and active Centers for Disease Control and Prevention stage 3 HIV disease 19 (except for cutaneous Kaposi sarcoma and CD4 + cell count 100,000 copies/mL) and screening CD4 + cell count (≤200 or >200 cells/mm 3) and treated in a double-blind randomized phase from day 1 to week 96 during which lamivudine and tenofovir disoproxil fumarate/emtricitabine tablets were provided overencapsulated to visually match each other, followed by an open-label randomized phase from week 96 to 148. Women of reproductive potential were eligible if they were not pregnant or lactating and using highly effective contraception (defined by study protocol). Here, we report longer-term results from the GEMINI-1 and GEMINI-2 planned secondary analyses at 96 weeks.Įligible participants were aged ≥18 years with HIV-1 infection, ≤10 days of previous antiretroviral therapy (ART), and screening plasma HIV- to 500,000 copies/mL. Both guidelines indicated the need for longer-term data to support the use of dolutegravir + lamivudine in a broader patient population. 16 European AIDS Clinical Society guidelines also indicate that when preferred regimens are not feasible or available, 17 dolutegravir + lamivudine can be used. 14, 15 In addition, the 2019 update to the US Department of Health and Human Services treatment guidelines for HIV-1 infection supports the use of dolutegravir + lamivudine as initial treatment in patients for whom abacavir, tenofovir disoproxil fumarate, or tenofovir alafenamide either cannot be used or are not optimal. These data led to the approval of the fixed-dose combination of dolutegravir/lamivudine as a once-daily, single-tablet 2DR by the FDA and the European Medicines Agency. 13 Importantly, resistance mutations associated with INSTIs or NRTIs did not emerge in the few participants who had virologic failure. 11, 12 In primary week 48 analyses of the 2 phase III studies GEMINI-1 and GEMINI-2 in treatment-naive adults, dolutegravir + lamivudine was noninferior to dolutegravir + tenofovir disoproxil fumarate/emtricitabine in achieving HIV-1 RNA <50 copies/mL according to the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA) Snapshot algorithm. The integrase strand transfer inhibitor (INSTI) dolutegravir has a high barrier to resistance, making it a well-suited candidate for inclusion in a 2DR, 9 particularly when paired with lamivudine, 10 as previously observed. ![]() 7, 8 Thus, a need remains for well-tolerated, potent 2DRs with a high barrier to resistance. 2– 6 Although noninferior efficacy was shown against 3-drug regimens (3DRs), PIs are associated with adverse metabolic effects, long-term toxicities, and drug–drug interactions, limiting their appeal as components of lifelong therapy. 1 As such, early studies investigating 2DRs as initial or maintenance therapy for HIV infection evaluated the pairing of the potent, well-tolerated nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitor (NRTI) lamivudine with pharmacologically boosted protease inhibitors (PIs), which have a high barrier to resistance. 1 The core antiretroviral agent in a 2DR must have high potency and a high barrier to resistance. Two-drug regimens (2DRs) can potentially reduce long-term cumulative drug exposure and decrease treatment-associated costs for HIV-1–infected individuals, who require lifelong therapy. Renal and bone biomarker changes favored dolutegravir + lamivudine. Dolutegravir + lamivudine had a lower rate of drug-related adverse events than dolutegravir + tenofovir disoproxil fumarate/emtricitabine (19.6% vs 25.0% relative risk ratio, 0.78 95% CI: 0.64 to 0.95). ![]() Eleven participants taking dolutegravir + lamivudine and 7 taking dolutegravir + tenofovir disoproxil fumarate/emtricitabine met confirmed virologic withdrawal criteria through week 96 none had treatment-emergent resistance mutations. Proportions of participants in the HIV-1 RNA ≥50 copies/mL Snapshot category were largely unchanged from week 48 to 96. At week 96, dolutegravir + lamivudine (N = 716) was noninferior to dolutegravir + tenofovir disoproxil fumarate/emtricitabine (N = 717) in achieving HIV-1 RNA <50 copies/mL (Snapshot algorithm −10% noninferiority margin) in the pooled analysis (proportion of responders, 86.0% vs 89.5%, respectively adjusted treatment difference, −3.4% ), GEMINI-1 (−4.9% ), and GEMINI-2 (−1.8% ). ![]() The night before the race: Skip protein at dinner. We first wrote about this software in 2018 and it was a reasonably lightweight utility. ![]() Unfortunately, Lenovo has added various bits of cruft to Lenovo Vantage over the years. However, a quick visit to this section of the Vantage app often reveals a new display driver that returns the touchscreen to working order. In my experience, major Windows updates often knock out the touchscreen on my Lenovo Thinkpad Yoga X1. But it also houses Lenovo’s own hardware driver updates, letting you know if there’s a new piece of software for your graphics chip, touchpad or other components. LED video and ribbon displays from Daktronics in Brookings, South Dakota were installed in 2006 prior to Arizona's first game of the season at the new stadium. The stadium is considered an architectural icon for the region and was named by Business Week as one of the ten “most impressive” sports facilities on the globe due to the combination of its retractable roof (engineering design by Walter P Moore) and roll-in natural grass field, similar to the GelreDome and the Veltins-Arena. ![]() It was designed by Eisenman Architects and HOK Sport (now Populous). The ceremonial groundbreaking for the new stadium in 2003 was held on April 12, and after three years of construction, the 63,400-seat venue opened on August 1, 2006. Ultimately, Mesa residents would vote to not approve the building of the stadium and Glendale was with its promised $36 million in infrastructure improvements and 11,000 parking spots near the stadium. By 2002, Mesa and Glendale has also submitted bids and had taken over as top choices. Long, who would also assume the risk for the $26 million infrastructure cost. The Avondale land would be a donation by developer John F. The Tempe site would be close to the Cardinals’ training facility but would cost the authority $30,000 monthly in water expenses. Tempe and Avondale were front runners, with other sites in downtown Phoenix, the Fort McDowell Indian Reservation, and near Fountain Hills also being considered. The Arizona Tourism and Sports Authority oversaw construction of the stadium and were responsible for finding the stadium’s location. In 20 as the Cardinals began exploring places to build their new stadium, numerous cities began to bid for it. The Cardinals campaigned several times in the years prior to its construction for a new and more modern facility. The lack of having their own stadium denied them additional revenue streams available to other NFL teams. Over time, the Cardinals expressed frustration at being merely tenants in a college football stadium. The savings and loan crisis derailed funding for a new stadium during the 1990s. The Cardinals planned to play there for only a few years, until a new stadium could be built in Phoenix.
